POSTERS
We dug up some of
the more noteworthy posters from the last decade to share with you.
Some are funny, some are here for historic reasons, some are both!
1. Sonny & Cher
look into the future to help promote a PD gig.
2. Our first NYC show,
October '93.
3. One of the best posters ever! Getting naughty in Rochester.
4. George Bush (the
first) speaks up. One of my all time favorites! It was hard
putting this one up around town cause I kept laughing. I love these
early PD posters that used voice bubbles on found photos.
5. From a mid 90s New York gig with artwork by Anonymous
Boy.
6. We borrowed from Lloyd Dangle's Troubletown
comic for this image. Timely again, with the war and all...
7. A very pink Toronto
poster.
8. This one has a good early
PD photo from '92 or '93. Jon had long hair, Chris wore his
big dick shirt, and David Ward was the drummer.
9. A voice bubble classic, before George
Michael came bursting out of the urinal, I mean closet.
10. From Outpunk Records
night at Gilman Street! From '93 or '94.
11. From a Guerrilla Queer
Bar party on June 2001 in SF. The party actually was as dirty
as the poster.
12. From a Green Day
show in Madison, Wisconsin, July 1994.
13. Before Rob Halford came out, he'd already made it onto a poster
of ours in Olympia, Washington, the most
overrated town in America.
14. Poster with a cute
boy from Eureka, CA from '94 I think.
15. We don't normally use celebrity endorsers, but how could we
turn down John Wayne!
16. Gore for President... Lesley
Gore, that is. From '96.
17. From the night we played in drag as The Carrie Nations, opening
for a Midnight Mass screening of Beyond
The Valley Of The Dolls in SF.
18. An early show with Beat Happening in Oakland, with typical K
Records style art.
19. The earliest poster on here! From June '91 in SF, I loved this
phallic long-haired
guitarist photo-it's from an album inner sleeve by an obscure but
great Australian band called The Eastern Dark.
20. The second earliest poster here! It's from December
'91 in SF, and features all our go-go dancers from that era.
This show was Chris' second, and drummer Jay Paget's first.
21. A raw and raunchy poster from one of our Gay
Pride Weekend shows in SF.
22. Another voice bubble classic! The image is from a Stiff
Little Fingers single sleeve. These posters didn't stay on the
poles long cause people would take them for souvenirs.
23. A pink triangle
shaped poster from Toronto!
24. Can't remember where this was from...a college
gig somewhere. Silly!
25. A Dutch gig poster using banned
artwork...oh my God!
26. A groovy poster from our tour with Man
Or Astroman?, October '97 on Orlando, Florida.
27. From our first show in Houston on October 93...gay porn icon
Jeff Stryker gets on
the PD bandwagon!
28. A Belgian poster using the art from the inside of the Touch
My Joe Camel sleeve, another Anonymous Boy drawing.
29. Green Day poster
from Philly, August 1994.
30. Green Day poster
from Edmonton, Alberta, July 1994.
31. George Bush the
first again! He be reprezentin' foe us in Tucson in '94. How
beautiful.
32. Poster from an opening gig for Rancid,
Portland, 1998.
33. A great poster from our first show in Canada, in Vancouver May
1994. I love the Stonewall
Was A Riot imagery.
34. One of the more perverse posters, in totally bad
taste, from Edmonton, Alberta in '95. They took the name literally...
35. From Canberra, Australia, a great poster for a gig at a posh
dyke bar. They liked us but made us play rather quietly!
